Alexander Van Lanschot: A Personal and Academic Timeline
Alexander Van Lanschot’s path has been shaped by curiosity, discipline, and a steady progression through unique experiences. His early education at the Wetherby School, were formative years that established not only strong scholastic habits, but also a comfort with challenge and long-term commitment.
Athletics played a parallel role in Alexander’s early life.. He competed as a goalkeeper at an international youth soccer tournament, a position that demands focus, leadership, and the ability to recover quickly from setbacks. He also participated in the Middlesex Cricket Borough Championships, which brought about a sense of fraternity and camaraderie with his teammates.
That blend of academic focus and extracurricular discipline carried forward into his university years at Duke University. Beyond coursework, Alexander’s involvement extended into the broader university community, including representation through the Duke University Parents Committee.
Alexander formally completed his undergraduate journey as a member of the Duke University Class of 2025, appearing in both the long commencement program and the short commencement program. His academic work culminated alongside peers in the Duke University Department of Computer Science 2025 Commencement Ceremony, marking a milestone that reflected years of sustained effort and growth. (And even a fun baby photo in celebration amongst the other class of 2025 graduates!
With a strong academic foundation from Duke University and a growing body of applied work, the next chapter centers on continuing to explore complex systems, real-world engineering challenges, and opportunities that reward thoughtful problem-solving. As he heads into a new year, Alexander’s primary areas of interest include intersection of embedded systems and intelligent software, which you can read more about here in his blog post “2026: Outlook and Goals in the New Year“.
